JOKER leads the Oscars with 11 Nominations!

Hey Film Fans!

Before we get into it, I just want to say that I loved Todd Phillips' Joker. I thought it took that character and created a very memorable piece on the struggles of mental health, how society treats those who struggle and how that can affect us all. Joaquin Phoenix turned in a wonderful but tortured performance. The score painted a saddening life. I did not expect this to happen.

This morning, The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences revealed the nominations for this year's Oscars, the granddaddy of all award ceremonies. 'JOKER' received the most nominations with 11 total, including Best Picture. This makes it the first DC Comics film to receive that nomination, and the second overall comic book movie to do so, after "Black Panther".

The following are the nominations 'JOKER' received from the Academy:

Best Picture - Todd Phillips, Bradley Cooper and Emma Tillinger Koskoff, producers

Best Actor in a Leading Role - Joaquin Phoenix

Best Director - Todd Phillips

Best Adapted Screenplay - Todd Phillips & Scott Silver

Best Cinematography - Lawrence Sher

Best Makeup and Hairstyling - Nicki Ledermann & Kay Georgia
